SELECTION OF THE 38th EDITION OF THE TURGOT LITERARY PRIZES

The Turgot Book Club and the Grand Jury of the Turgot Literary Prize have selected amongst more than 130 books published in 2024, a short-list of works that will compete for the Grand Prix and the Special Prizes in the 38th edition to be held in March 2025.

The 13 books selected strive to address the main economical and financial topics that arose in 2024 in Europe, and more particularly, in France. The selection aims to distinguish authors of various credentials; experienced and promising writers, practitioners and researchers or those who have not yet received public recognition.

Among the dominant themes, as in 2023, are the upheavals in global geopolitics, with the pursuit of a new form of economic warfare between the United States and China, as analyzed by David BAVEREZ in Welcome to the War Economy 1, by CARAYON F-X., Predatory States 1, and by Benjamin BURBAUMER, United States – China, Capitalism Against Globalization 2 .

Another major theme is energy and ecological transitions, with the books of Jean-Baptiste FRESSOZ, sans transition 1, Christian de BOISSIEU and Dominique CHESNEAU (ed.), Réussir la transition énergétique 2, Michel ALLE, Nucléaire contre renouvelable 2., and Simon PORCHER, La fin de l ‘eau 2.

The questions raised by the economic state of France are dealt with in the works of Laure QUENNOUELLE- CORRE, Le déni de la dette (Debt Denial) 1, Jean-Denis COMBREXELLE, Les normes à l’assaut de la démocratie (Standards Assaulting Democracy) 1, Cristina PEICUTI, Histoire Monétaire et économique de la France de 1944 à nos jours.

Two other distinctions honor Bruno BENSASSON for his educational book The Economy is Not Just a Matter of Money – Understanding the Economy Differently, and François-Xavier DUDOUET & Antoine VION, for their book Sociology of Leaders of Large Companies (DFCG Prize).

K.Wantz-O’Rourke (President of the Turgot Literary Prize) and J-J.Pluchart (President of the Turgot Club)
